Building Organic Visibility and Traffic in a Competitive Local Market

HIGHLIGHTS:

At the start of 2026, Stag Solar partnered with Thrive Online Group UK to improve their organic visibility, increase website traffic, and strengthen their presence in Google search results, for residential and commercial solar searches in Essex. 

The SEO campaign began with a full technical and strategic audit in January, followed by implementation starting in February. 

The primary objective of the campaign was clear: 

Increase organic traffic and search visibility first. Conversion optimisation would follow once traffic volumes increased. 

CLIENT OVERVIEW
Stag Solar is a solar installation company focused on residential and commercial solar installations, with a strategic focus on Essex and surrounding areas. The business wanted to increase its visibility in Google search, generate more website traffic, and ultimately increase qualified enquiries, for their residential and commercial solar projects. 

To achieve this, they partnered with Thrive Online Group UK to develop and implement a structured SEO growth strategy. 

THE STEPS – FIRST SIX MONTHS
The first primary objective of the campaign was not conversions, it was traffic and visibility first.

Why? Because without search visibility and website traffic, conversion optimisation has nothing to work with. The first step in any successful SEO campaign is to ensure the business is visible when potential customers are searching.

Primary Goals:

  • Produce a forensic and strategic audit report of all prior and existing PPC and SEO implementations, that includes full market research and an 18-month ongoing strategy based on findings.
  • Implement the aligned PPC and SEO staged strategy based on the audit documents.
  • Link content management, including creative messaging to the PPC and SEO strategies. Restructure the direct marketing strategy within the client’s CRM.
  • Begin the website uplift inline with the brand strategy, aligning the website to best international standards.
  • Ongoing monitoring and maintenance, including change management, of the plan and implementations.

THE STRATEGY
The campaign began in January  with a full strategic SEO audit, followed by implementation starting in February.

The strategy focused on three core areas:

1. Technical SEO Foundation
Before growth can happen, the website must be technically sound. The audit identified technical issues affecting search performance, which were resolved as part of the initial implementation phase.

This included:

  • Indexing and crawl optimisation
  • Site structure improvements
  • Internal linking improvements
  • Metadata optimisation

2. On-Page SEO Optimisation
Key existing pages were optimised to improve rankings and relevance:

  • Act as a central page to support future town-specific pages

OVERALL RESULTS (First 90 Days)
The campaign delivered significant ranking improvements:

Organic Visibility

  • Organic visibility increased by 45%
  • Average Google ranking position improved by 86.71 positions
  • The website’s average position is now on Page 1 of Google

This means the business is now appearing in searches where it previously had little or no visibility.

Keyword Rankings

The campaign delivered significant ranking improvements:

  • 16 keywords ranking in the Top 3 positions
  • 26 keywords ranking in the Top 10
  • 28 keywords ranking in the Top 20

This is critical because higher rankings directly translate into increased website traffic.

Traffic Growth (Google Analytics 4)

Organic Sessions

  • Organic traffic increased 38% month-on-month
  • Organic traffic now accounts for 15% of all website traffic

Organic Users

  • Organic users increased 74% month-on-month

Organic Clicks

  • Organic clicks increased significantly over a 3-month period (350 vs 306 in the previous period)
